Dollar ralley continues as Market slides

Index & Sector performance 3/10/15 The Market: A strong down session across the board with no index or sector spared.  We noted yesterday that the action to the upside appeared to not have conviction and today the lack of buying turned into selling.  Traders pointed to concerns over the eventual rate hike from the Fed and the strength in the Dollar as reasons for concern. We expect to see some form of a bounce as we have started to see positive divergence set-up on the shorter term intraday charts of the S&P 500 (SPY) and NASDAQ (QQQ) but any moves…

Index & Sector performance 3/13/14 The Market: A strong down day in the market but coming into the day people may have thought that would be a result of a poor Unemployment Claims number but we actually saw a better than expected 315K (334K est).  After the report the index meandered higher into the open and then after peaking out above trend line resistance, turned and started what proved to be a day long decline. DJIA +33.25 (+0.23%) to 14,329.49; S&P 500 +2.80 (+0.18%) to 1,544.26; NASDAQ +9.72 (+0.30%) to 3,232.09 Today was a quiet lower volume trading day ahead of the Jobs numbers tomorrow morning.  I am currently showing consensus estimates at 162K and as a reminder (unless revised) last report came in at 157K.  The report will be out at 8:30am EST tomorrow giving us about an hour to digest and get the day’s bias before we open.
