The Market: Stocks had another tough session following a second day where the Chinese market was halted.  Chinese officials have removed the circuit breaker restrictions for tomorrow’s session and traders appear to be preparing for a volatile session but it will be interesting to see if allowing the index to freely trade will ultimately help it bottom — even if only for the short-term. Another session where no Sector saw gains but the relative outperformers were Retail (XRT), which was helped by Wal-Mart (WMT) after gaining 2.3% on the session, and Monday’s leader Utilities (XLU). Index & Sector performance 1/13/14 The Market: The S&P 500 meandered throughout the Sunday evening session, into Monday and even to start the trading day but then around noon EST weakness started to set in and continued to build.  Around 2:30 pm EST we had reached R2 support in the future but we posted at StockTwits that this support did not look like it would hold due to the MACD’s formation.  That support was indeed lost and the S&P 500 futures (ES) lost another 10 points to the day’s lows and 5 points to the close overall netting a 20+…

DJIA -55.44 (-0.4%) to 13,328.85; SPX -4.74 (-0.3%) to 1,457.15; NASDAQ -7.01 (-0.2%) to 3,091.81 Today’s action was as expected and a continuation of the consolidation.  Early morning trading was only down roughly 2 points in the S&P but by midday we were roughly 10 points lower until finally bottoming and closing the down down 4.  Otherwise there wasn’t much Market news and even the fed minutes showed everything roughly remained the same in voting patterns. In the news today was Signet Jewelers (SIG) which gained over 9% on news that holiday season same-store sales rose 3.3% and also on earnings guidance that Wall Street…
