Index & Sector performance 9/18/13 The Market: The clock struck 2pm EST and it is time for Big Ben and the Fed to put all the recent speculation, at least for now, to rest.  Neither changes to the current $85B bond purchased program nor the fed funds target rate.  That news sparked a near 30 point rally which ultimately closed up 23 points from the announcement. Besides the Federal Reserve rate decision, in economic data we had building permits and housing starts which both came in lower than the previous month and also below expectations but with all due respect…

Daily Wrap

DJIA -106.59 (-0.69%) to 15,302.80;S&P 500 -11.70 (-0.70%) to 1,648.36;NASDAQ -17.12 (-0.57%) to 2,994.82 The markets spend the entire day down and started off with a 10+ point drop.  After finally finding a bottom around 11am EST down over 17 the S&P 500 rallied into the 2:30 pm EST time frame and finally drifted lower the remainder of the day giving up some of those midday gains.  The market did not breach the 5/23-5/24 lows and has also remained above the 20 day SMA.  Overall I still view the market as bullish and deciding whether it will consolidate as a triangle with the short term lows…

Daily Wrap

DJIA  +78.56 (+0.60%) to 13,248.44;  S&P 500  +9.29 (+0.65%) to 1,427.84;  NASDAQ  +35.34 (+1.18%) to 3,022.30; Today’s market was up from the start and even though there were dips and reaction to various statements coming out of Washington, we stayed up the entire day.  On the upside we finally pressed through key resistance and tagged the horizontal resistance/target we have been highlighting for weeks at 1434 on the index.  After tagging we appropriately retraced and the initial back-test of the 62% fib at 1424 held as support and we closed in-between those key levels. American International Group (AIG) rallied over…
