Index & Sector performance 3/10/14 The Market: Today was a yet another choppy session but for day traders there was a great deal of opportunity.  The S&P 500 emini ultimately moved 40 points between support and resistance while the S&P 500 cash index only managed to close down roughly a point for the day.  Starting with Sunday evening’s trading the ES contract lost ground over night finding support at the $1868ES pivot and then rallied pre-market to the $1878ES pivot.  Playing Pivot Pinball the ES tested the $1868ES support after the open to yet again hold and rally back toward…

All quiet before jobs data

Index & Sector performance 10/21/13 The Market: Not too much to report as it was a quiet down day in the S&P 500 and Dow with the Nasdaq making small gains much on the back of a strong performance from Apple (AAPL) closing up nearly 2.5% on the day. In economic news we had Existing Home Sales with came in light posting a 5.29M when 5.31M was expected.  Tomorrow will be a much bigger day as we get the jobs report that was delayed due to the government shutdown.  Current forecast is for 182K and Unemployment rate of 7.3% Story…

DJIA +19.66 (+0.14%) to 14,567.17; S&P 500 +7.25 (+0.47%) to 1,562.50; NASDAQ +29.61 (+1.06%) to 2,810.07 Monday’s action started with a gap higher which was promptly sold until just before 11am EST when the S&P 500 finally bottomed and then rallied the majority of the day.  The high for the day was set just before 3pm EST and the remainder of the day was spent consolidating with a slightly lower bias.  In economic data we saw a slightly downbeat housing (existing sales) number coming in at 4.92M vs a 5.02M estimate. DJIA -21.73 (-0.16%) to 13,971.24; S&P 500 -0.92 (-0.06%) to 1,517.01; NASDAQ -1.87 (-0.06%) to 3,192.00 Today’s market held in a tight range and is reflected in the close in the S&P 500 which is down less than 1point.  This week has a fair amount of data, fed speak and some scheduled Obama talk.  I try and log it all and then update the numbers as they come out so visit the Event’s Calendar for the updates and there is also currently a dividends and splits list.
